In the post pandemic era, how can China seize the opportunity to cope with the burden of public health?
The 75th World Health Assembly was held in Geneva from May 22 to 28. It is reported that AIDS, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections cause 2.3 million deaths and 1.2 million cases of cancer every year, bringing a serious public health burden to the world. More than 1 million people are newly infected with HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C every day; Treponema pallidum, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, and Trichomonas vaginalis cause over 1 million infections per day, with over 500 million people currently suffering from genital HSV infections; In 2020, approximately 604000 women worldwide were diagnosed with cervical cancer, most of which were associated with high-risk HPV.
As a populous country, China's public health burden cannot be underestimated. In 2021, more than 1.14 million people in China were infected with HIV; It is estimated that there are about 87 million hepatitis B virus carriers in China, accounting for about one third of all chronic hepatitis B virus carriers in the world; There are approximately 7.6 million patients with hepatitis C. In 2020, there were 109700 new cases and 59000 deaths of cervical cancer; According to the release of legal infectious diseases, the number of gonorrhea cases in China is 105000, the number of AIDS cases is 62000, and the number of syphilis cases is 464000, all of which are on the rise.
